Praying for Faith

I usually don't write stories like this, but today, I wanted to make an exception. I wanted to write about how God worked today. I want to be able to look back someday and just say "Wow, HE REALLY is at work!"

There's this little girl named Faith. For about a month now, I've been praying for her. I asked our pastor, Jeff J. to pray for her (and maybe) go to UCD and lay hands on her. I prayed that her parents wouldn't mind if we came in and prayed for her. We had wanted to do this a while back, but because of infection control, visitors weren't allowed.

Fast forward...around lunch time today, I called Jeff and told him that we're probably not going to be able to visit Faith. I haven't heard back from Shelly. I was pretty bummed @ this point because I was really hoping that Jeff and I could go out to the hospital and pray for Faith before Jeff left for his trip tomorrow.

3:15ish my cell phone rings. It was a lady named Nancy (I think). She's a friend of Shelly's. Apparently she had read a comment I left on Shelly's blog yesterday. I had posted my cell number for Shelly to call me back. I usually don't lay my cell phone number out, especially on the internet, but yesterday, I just felt led to write it down on the comment section on Shelly's blog. Anyhow, Shelly updated her blog today and she posted "Desiree, it's okay for you and your pastor to stop by tonight." Nancy read this and immediately called me. Had I not posted my cell phone number, I would have never known. I was so glad that Nancy called me.

Soon as I got done talking to Nancy, I called Shelly @ UCD and told her that I'll be coming in, but wasn't sure with the time. I needed to check if Jeff was avaible (since I told him earlier that we're probably not going today). After talking to Shelly, I called Jeff's office right away. I got a voice mail but decided not to leave a message and called his cell phone instead. As I dialed his number, I prayed that I woud be able to get a hold of him and not his VM. Jeff answered his phone with "I saw the blog! I saw the blog!" and I replied with "You know why I'm calling you, right?" I was so stoked because I knew that God was working!

After hanging up, I started stressing. I just realized that I told Jeff to meet me in an hour and I don't have a sitter! I look outside the window to see if my neighbor's car was in their driveway, hoping to leave the girls' next door. I looked at the time, 3:25 p.m. I KNEW my neigbor Brian gets home around 3:30 p.m., but I didn't have his number - but I remembered that his wife, Amanda, had called me earlier in the month from work and that her work number was still on my caller ID log, thank goodness. So I began to scroll through the incoming calls and found "Calwest Appraisals", which is where Amanda worked. I called Amanda and asked her if Brian could watch the girls for a while. She said it shouldn't be a problem. 3 minutes later, Brian pulls into his driveway. He was more than happy to take the girls. (Brian & Amanda, you guys are awesome!)

It all worked out! It was all God's timing. For me to be able to get a hold of Jeff, set up a time, find a sitter last minute, jump in the shower and get to UCD within that 45 minute time frame was totally a God thing! It was all in HIS time!

Jeff and I got to visit and pray with and for Faith. I can still remember the "momment" when Jeff was talking to Faith. He said, "Faith, I look forward to talking with you soon." (with a grandpa-tone). I was standing at the foot of Faith's hospital bed and I could swear her face lit up, and she looked like she wanted to reply to Jeff - but obviously couldn't because she was intubated. It was one of those momments where you KNOW that the presence of the Lord was there! (Oh, BTW, one of the nurses stayed during the prayer and I was 99% sure that she laid her hands on Faith's head when we were praying. I couldn't really see for sure because I had my eyes closed.)

Please continue to keep Faith and her family in your prayers. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Desiree, Months later there must be a reason I'm reading this. I followed Faith's journey to our Lord. I think of her often and her family. I pray they are at peace. Call me when you can, that was so awesome that you were there to help and be so supportive. God Bless. Karen Comeaux
