1st day of 1st Grade

It's hard to believe that our five year old daughter, Dalaney is in first grade. It seems like it was only yesterday when she was singing her ABC's with Elmo. Now, she's counting by two's, reading to her little sister, writing sentences... gosh, time really flies. It won't be long and I'll be posting pictures of her entering 2nd grade. Michael and I are so proud of her. We love you baby girl!

Yes, she got herself dressed this morning, even did her own hair! I couldn't talk her into a French braid. "My hair's fine, Mama. I like it like this." I was anxious. I only got four hours of sleep.... over first grade!

Anyway, both girls got dressed without any complaints or protest. Must be something about first day of school. At the end of the day, I asked Dalaney, "What's your favorite part about first grade?" She replied, "I like the planting part." - you see, for her science project, she got to plant a green bean seed. Naturally, when you're planting, you get your hands in the dirt, which I think was really her favorite part.

Just want to share something cute before I close..... when we were getting ready to go outside to plant the "seeds", Dalaney and Nevaeh had a little conversation that went something like this:

Nevaeh: Dalaney, where you goin'? (as Dalaney goes out to the garage)
Dalaney: I'm going to plant my seeds (as the door shuts)
Nevaeh: What? (as she follows Dalaney out to the garage)
Dalaney: I'm going to plant my seeds!
Nevaeh: What are you going to do with deeds?
Dalaney: No, seeds! C-E-D-S (spelling it out loudly, as if Nevaeh can really understand what she's spelling!)
